"You know as soon as the Young & the Restless ends we always leave to go to Griffith, so don't be holding us up. I don't like standing in those long lines. I ain't playing wit yo ass. If you ain't here before then we leaving you," barked Aaron.
Aaron had a deep southern accent that is more noticeable and thicker than anyone's else's from Prairie Heights, Florida, which is about 50 miles west of Tallahassee, Florida, where Dawn University is located. In many ways, Aaron was the leader of this motley crew of friends. His leadership had more to do with how loud and vocal he was mixed with the reality that no one else had the desire to argue with him.
Aaron had a quick tongue but was often wrong. When he was wrong, most members of the group simply gave each other a quick glance to determine their assessment. If you got eyes rolled back from the girls or a quick shrug from the guys you knew they agreed with you. If he was right you might have one or two of the crew to amen him but if he went too far, as he was apt to do, then people walked away. Walking away was a signal to him that no one was interested in his arguments.
The rest of the fellas spent more time with Aaron and so they were immune to Aaron's rants. But this time, Aaron was on the phone with Chelsea and today she wasn't having it. The fellas could clearly hear Chelsea's response.
"Aaron, I don't know who the hell you think you talking to like that. I asked your simple ass one simple ass question. You know we always take a nap at this time. But since you wanna act like one of the girls and go off on me, we just gonna leave now and eat without you."
At this point, the fellas were already prepared. They already had their Tupperware packed into their book sacks and were already making plans to get certain foods based on the sizes of those bowls.
Most of the members of the group were in Student Government but were serving in different capacities. Aaron was Men's Federation president and Hakeem was his vice president. They both represented all men on campus. Chelsea was the vice president of AWS (Association of Women Students) and also serves as the legislative aid for the Student Senate. Danielle was the clerk of the Senate. Demarco was a Junior Class senator and Owen and Marcus both had positions in Men's Federation. B'onca and Rihanni were the only ones who did not serve in SGA. However, because they were so close knit a group they always listened to what was happening.
This time, however, what was happening in SGA captured the attention of the entire student body. But the most important people at the table were Demarco and Tammy because they had a vote in the Senate. Most of the members of the group were too polite to ask what they would do and DJ would never ask either of them in public because he was still counting votes but this time, breaking from her normal gentile demeanor, Danielle asked Tammy what her thoughts were.
"Well, of course, I need to see the evidence," said Tammy.
This almost enraged Rihanni but she covered it up with a funny tone and replied by saying, "Evidence?! Evidence?! He bought over $100 in sexy clothes to have sex with half of those lil freshmen girls!"
"Well, do we even know that's his signature," asked Tammy? Tammy was referencing the receipts Toni sent to DJ over fax that was later reported in the Campus Spectrum.
"Look at the approved budget we gave to you and all the approved bills we've sent to him that he's signed. The signature matches. His own Chief of Staff admitted it was his signature," replied DJ.
"And what can the Senate do? People are saying we should impeach him but is this something worth impeaching someone for," asked Tammy?
"The Constitution does not specify reasons why a person could be impeached. My guess is it should be left to the Senate to decide whether that is an appropriate reaction to what is happening. The Bylaws you all passed only gives direction on how that process would move along," replied DJ.
In that moment, DJ received a text message from Payne. He opened the message which read, "Tonight??"
"I just don't understand what the hold up is? No one on this campus wants him to be the president. If he is no longer the president, who would take his place," asked Rihanni?
DJ responded to the text by saying, "I don't have any money to get there and back. Sorry."
Aaron chimed in by saying, "DJ takes his place."
"DJ? Why DJ," asked Rihanni?
Everyone at the table responded by saying, in unison, "He's the vice president."
DJ received another text from Payne that read, "I can give you $5."
"Oh, is that why you are always trying to get us to do stuff in SGA? You shoulda told me that then I would have helped more. Especially if I could get a room and tickets to the Pacific Classic," said Rihanni, sarcastically.
That's when DJ realized Demarco hadn't commented. He could tell that Tammy just needed the facts that everyone else pretty much already knew. Demarco, however, was someone who hated to make controversial decisions. Also, he was trying to become an Epsilon and was real cool with most of the members.
Most of the members of Epsilon were in the Honors College, as was Demarco. Additionally, most of the members who lived on campus lived in Lasko Hall dormitory with Demarco. Because of his grades and activity on campus, he was pretty much riding waves into the chapter.
DJ could sense that Demarco felt uncomfortable with the discussion. DJ wanted to steer the conversation away from Demarco because the last thing he needed was to have Demarco forced to have to make a decision, which might not be something DJ could walk back afterwards if he made the decision in anger.

At this point, the fellas were already prepared. They already had their Tupperware packed into their book sacks and were already making plans to get certain foods based on the sizes of those bowls.
When they heard the exchange between Aaron and Chelsea, that was like catnip for them. Almost like they had planned it or were talking telepathically, they each stood up to leave. This act shocked Aaron. He forgot that though the group watched the Young & the Restless, they didn't really like watching soap operas.
DJ was the first to make it to door. DJ entertained Aaron less than the rest of the group but had learned long ago to simply react, move or make decisions independent of the fellas. In fact, he spent most of this time looking through his phone sitting on one of the beds in Aaron and Hakeem's dorm room.
Also, DJ rarely took food from the caf. Marcus was across the hall and it had long been understood that before they left they had to wake him up at least five to ten minutes before leaving. That was about the right amount of time needed to meet the girls. As DJ walked across the hall to wake Marcus, it was then that Owen, Demarco and Hakeem began to assemble everything to prepare for the trek to the cafeteria.
Seeing the fellas move told Aaron everything he needed to know. The fellas were in no mood for him today. This usually left him in a bad mood. Unlike the girls, the fellas just ignored his behavior. For some reason, the girls seemed to place more weight onto his mood than anyone's else's.
After they all finally left their dormitories the fellas met up with the girls at the customary spot, which caught the girls off guard because it was an earlier time than normal.
The weather was warm with a moderate wind blowing. It was sunny outside and most everyone was swatting mosquitoes. By now, everyone had a light glistening of sweat on their faces that gave everyone a glow under the bright sun. The air was sweet from the local factories whose pollution Dawn students regularly smelled during warm days when the winds blew.

"Demarco, you look so sexy today! What did you do today; can I touch all this sexiness" asked Chelsea? Chelsea was one of the funny girls of the group. Her kind of fun was a mixture of what she was saying mixed with her facial expressions. Her wit was quick and only the quickest of the group was able to catch it. As always, Demarco was caught off guard and was flustered at the same time; he was struggling to get the words out.
"What you mean, Chelsea?"
"Can I rub on your chest and feel your muscles?" Without permission, Chelsea did just that. Demarco gave a face of irritation mixed with pleasure, which made the group laugh....well everyone except Aaron.
Yvette was the mother of the group. She was always concerned with everyone's well being. She always wanted everyone to feel comfortable. She noticed Aaron did not laugh. "Aroni, what's wrong?" she asked. Aroni was the nickname she gave Aaron and was a nickname used only by Yvette when she addressed him.
Aaron didn't respond to her question other than to simply acknowledge she was speaking; he looked up with his eyebrows pressed together, which actually gave him a devilish look. The look communicated enough to Yvette to ask Hakeem what was wrong with Aaron.

Aaron didn't respond to her question other than to simply acknowledge she was speaking; he looked up with his eyebrows pressed together, which actually gave him a devilish look. The look communicated enough to Yvette to ask Hakeem what was wrong with Aaron.
Hakeem was Aaron's roommate. All three - Aaron, Hakeem and Yvette - were from the same hometown along with DJ.
Hakeem answered Yvette by saying, "I really don't know." His tone gave a sense of irritation. Usually, when Hakeem was irritated everyone in the group respected that and stood out of his way. It wasn't that Hakeem was a bully or anything close to that. It was simply that Hakeem was the smoothest of the group and probably the most gentle too.
So, Yvette asked DJ what was wrong with Aaron and Hakeem. DJ responded by saying, "Oh, so no one told you. Well, before coming over, Aaron and Chelsea exchanged words."
"Okay. But that doesn't explain Hakeem."
"That I don't know. I was surprised to hear how he responded to you too."
And out of no where Chelsea asks Aaron, "What's wrong with you, Aaron? Everyone else is speaking to everyone else but you."
At that moment, the entire crew put their eyes onto Aaron expecting him to blew up. Instead, Aaron responded by saying, "I'm mad because you didn't run your hands on my chest and tell me I'm sexy like Demarco. What's that about?"
The whole crew laughed because unlike Demarco who had a slim build, 6 feet 3 inch frame and tight muscles on most parts of his body, Aaron was a lanky build standing at 6 feet 1 inch and no muscles in sight. Demarco was clean shaven and always had a decent cut on his head. He wore glasses but somehow they fit him. Aaron, on the other hand, didn't put much stock into what he wore or what he looked like.
Because they left so early there wasn't much of a line at the cafeteria. Once they all sat down, the group was joined by Marcus and later by Rihanni, Danielle and B'onca.
Of course, Rihanni could not make an entrance without the group noticing her. "OMG, I swear they act like those cows don't piss milk. I went up there and told that woman the milk machine was out of milk and she gives me an attitude. It's not even 5 o'clock and they ran outta milk. They know we coming. They need to take their asses out there and squeeze those cow titties cuz I want my milk dammit."
"Girl, you can have mine. I'm not going to drink it."
"Bet. Thank you, Chelsea."
Generally, when the group eats together certain people sit next to each other. DJ normally sits next to Chelsea who would normally sit near B'onca. Aaron would sit next to either Rihanni or Hakeem. But Rihanni always sat next to Danielle. Everyone else pretty much sat around those groups and left open seats if someone was running late. It was never something that was decided or ever mentioned; these norms simply developed over the three years they had spent together at Dawn.
As the group begins to settle in to their seats and quietly eat, Yvette's roommate, Tammy, walks by and catches the eye of both Yvette and DJ. Tammy is a Senior class senator. Her entrance to the table turned the group's attention to the current issues of Student Government.

DJ wanted to steer the conversation away from Demarco because the last thing he needed was to have Demarco forced to have to make a decision, which might not be something DJ could walk back afterwards if he made the decision in anger.
If anyone tried too hard DJ knew Demarco would certainly vote against impeachment. DJ needed his vote.
As DJ considered these facts, he replied to Payne saying, "Cool. What are we going to be doing? I've already started eating dinner."
As the group continued to talk over each other, DJ was scanning the room and listening to his friends. He wondered whether everyone else was having similar conversations. That's when he realized people had picked up the Campus Spectrum and were having intense conversations about the situation. They looked upset.
"Look at everyone," exclaimed DJ. On cue, everyone at the table started to look around the cafeteria and everyone noted how people were angrily holding the paper that had a copy of the receipts. The article also independently verified with the store that the clothes were paid for with a purchase order from Dawn University.
The Campus Spectrum further discovered that only Student Government had the right to purchase clothes in connection with Miss Dawn and her court. Ivory was Miss Dawn's escort and as tradition when a male is SGA president then that male receives a $1,000 clothing stipend to serve as the escort for Miss Dawn.
This year was the first year that clothes for the entire court was added to the budget. However, the amount given to the other members of the court did not exceed the budgeted amount. The prevailing thought is that Ivory used the remainder of the money on himself instead of the court.
DJ was also a member of the court because the Junior Class president was a female and so was the vice president of the class. Because of his past and present roles, he's able to intelligently guide everyone through this conversation.
"I just don't want this to end up like last year when we impeached Miss Dawn," said Tammy. This was Tammy's third year on the Senate. DJ was a senator last year and was there when the Senate impeached Miss Dawn. He knew exactly what she meant and he wanted to avoid that debacle at all costs, which was partly why he refused to move too fast on this issue. He wanted as many facts as possible to hang Ivory with.
DJ received another text, "We can just chill. I want to get to know you, remember?"
"Yeah, right. You trying to fuck again," responded DJ.
"Well, to be honest, I don't care about all of that. I just know that lil short fucka aint giving me no dick so if I were on the Senate I'd vote to impeach his ass. Now if we was fuckin then I might have to vote to keep him," said Danielle.
As DJ considered these facts, he replied to Payne saying, "Cool. What are we going to be doing? I've already started eating dinner."

Everyone gave her a shocked look. Everyone knew Danielle was a little freaky but she never really said anything about it in such a manner.
As everyone laughed, DJ got another text from Payne saying, "No! For real. Perfect gentleman."
"Ok. What time," asked DJ in response to Payne's text.
"Now."
Aaron was amused by the conversation but he was a bottom line type of person. He truly wanted to know whether Tammy and Demarco would vote to impeach Ivory. "So, no disrespect DJ but Tammy and Demarco, what yall gonna do?"
Tammy answered by saying, "Well, right now I can't tell you what I'm going to do but based on everything I'm hearing I would vote to impeach him today. I won't lie, part of my decision would be based on you, DJ."
"Me?"
"Yeah. Do you want the position?"
This was the first time DJ had ever truly considered that. Logically, he knew he was next in line but he never truly thought impeachment was going to happen. He just wanted to humble Ivory. Tammy, introducing this as a concept, made it a reality because there were only seven more senators he needed to talk to to determine whether they were ready to vote to impeach.
DJ wasn't known for being a liar, however, after now recently living in this lifestyle, he learned to live in the nuance. Being a Senator and later VP for SGA made that transition easier for him.
DJ responded by saying, "I'm always ready." He grinned and all the fellas laughed.
But Tammy judged him and instead cut through by proposing this scenario, "I know you won't be voting on this issue but if this only took a majority vote and the Senate was split 50/50, how would you vote?"
Without thinking, DJ plainly replied, "He would have been impeached last week."
Apparently, most of his friends were surprised by that assertion.

Then, as if a football game had just been won, everyone cracked into smiles.
Their response baffled DJ. He wondered how that answer changed everyone's attitude. He normally would have asked the follow up questions but he had somewhere to go.
"Yall, I forgot I have something due tomorrow. I need to research for it. I need to go." He learned not to give too many specifics and not to commit to meeting up with them later. They could sometimes be a possessive group.
As DJ walked away, he sent Payne a text that read, "I'm leaving the cafeteria now. I should be there in about 30 minutes."
Payne responded by saying, "I have to go to work real quick, but I'll leave the door unlocked. I should be back in about an hour."
"Cool," replied DJ. He wondered why Payne trusted him enough to leave him in his home for so long without him. He pushed the thought that perhaps this was something real. He fully expected to have sex that night.
DJ now had an extra 30 minutes so this is an opportunity for him to quickly shower before he made his way to Payne's apartment. But unlike in the past, he couldn't plan his actions in advance.
As he made his way back to his room, he met his roommate sitting at his desk making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. This was his roommates, Eugene, daily snack. He hadn't yet gone to dinner.
"Wassup, Eugene!"
"Chillin DJ. Just about to grub on this food."
In the room with Eugene was this short dude with big wavy hair. From the conversation, he could tell the guy was an engineering major that seemed to be trying too hard to be Eugene's friend. He also looked a bit older than most college students. The short dude was darker than DJ and very talkative.
The friendship between these two baffled DJ. Eugene has always been a quiet guy. He always had friends but his friends were always smart and they were never needy or talkative. This new friend seemed to be the exact opposite.
As DJ undresses, Eugene and his friend remain in the room. Though DJ had a slender frame he inherited his mother's curves. He had no stomach with a larger than normal size ass for a man his age. He wore a size 28 just to fit his ass. In general, he could wear a size 25 but because his ass was so firm and "obvious" he had to get a larger size jean to wear.
DJ had never felt comfortable dressing or undressing in the presence of other men. He had long since learned that most men will look at another man's body if given the chance.

Men would never admit to it but men do it. Because he could never tell what a man's intentions were he tried to avoid the scenario altogether. Today, though, he didn't have time, so his prudish ways had to take a backseat.
As he carefully pulled his legs out of his jeans, he could feel the stocky dude with big wavy hair staring at him from Eugene's bed. Behind the guy were the room's windows and the blinds were all open so the sun was behind Eugene's friend but it caught him at an angle so his eyes were clear to see. Eugene sat opposite DJ's closet so he doubted Eugene even knew he was undressing.
This had been DJ's first time meeting this guy so he had kept the conversation light. DJ knows that when he first meets someone it is rare that they automatically think he is gay. So, as he continued to undress, the guy continues to watch him.
Once DJ has taken everything else off, he knows Eugene's friend can see him in his underwear. The underwear was loose at the waist but tight around the thickest part of his ass. DJ would have felt more at ease with the guy seeing his dick than his ass but to turn around was not an option so he moved as fast as he could.
DJ placed his towel over his waist and folded it tight then pulled his underwear off.

The guy and his roommate were talking about how a professor was making them do unnecessary work. DJ tried not to listen but he couldn't help it.
DJ refused to turn around but could still feel this dude watching him. He slipped on his slippers, grabbed his soap, shampoo and towel then left the room as the two of them continued to talk.
The shower room and restrooms were adjacent rooms. The restroom was next to his dorm room and that led to the shower room, so as DJ walked into the restroom he decided to take a quick piss before jumping in the shower. As he was pulling his dick out through the fold of the towel in walks his roommate's friend.
DJ was a creature of habit and so he always went to the fourth stall from the door. Before heading to the stall he places his soap, shampoo and towel on the sink nearest the door leading to the shower room.

The restroom had five stalls. As Eugene's friend walks into the restroom, DJ begins to let loose his stream so he can't move. He opts to keep his right hand holding his dick and the left one ready to flush.
Eugene's friend seems surprised to find DJ at the stall but walks to the third stall, next to DJ. At this point, DJ is alarmed and doesn't know what this guy is all about.
He makes movements like he is unzipping his shorts. As the stocky guy begins to take a leak, he turns and faces DJ. DJ is wondering whether this dude is about to bash his head in or ask to join him in the shower. For some reason, DJ can smell him; he had a hint of worn cologne but soon after he began to drain himself DJ picked up the scent of a man who had been out all day.
Without returning the guy's glance, when DJ is done, he carefully shakes several times, moves his dick and the towel back into place with his right hand, and flushes with the left. At this point, he stops paying attention to the guy and turns toward the shower room at the other end of the restroom. He collects his things from the sink to his left and walks into the shower room. He can tell the shower room was recently cleaned because he can pick up the scent of bleach.
As he makes his way to the single stalled shower the door he just walked through swings open and the stocky guy walks through following him instead of leaving through the restroom door.
At this point, DJ knows something is about to go down, he just doesn't know what that something is. DJ's face felt like it was telling a story - one filled with fear.

DJ quickly assesses the room at what he could grab to hit this dude with and sees nothing. He is acutely aware of his size against this guy. DJ sums up that this short, stocky guy must weigh at least 200 pounds. Just as those thoughts race through his head and adrenaline kicks in, DJ's friend, Harry, walks in.
Harry is gay. Harry is very gay. But DJ didn't care at that moment. He needed him. Whatever this guy had in mind, neither of those things were a possibility for DJ. He genuinely wanted to hug Harry for walking in at that moment and Harry would have hugged him back.
Seeing Harry, the stocky guy continues to walk straight through the shower room. In that short time, DJ realizes the situation was weird but he also knows he can't really say anything.

Harry and DJ had been friends for two years and had even gone out several times together to gay clubs. This was probably the first time DJ spoke with anyone he thought was gay in public in a way that could only be construed as "gay".
He didn't care. Harry had just become DJ's best friend and Harry never knew it.
